ROBERT: During this period I couldn't stand. One of my neighbors said, you look like a coffee table. I was in a 90 degree angle and a lot of pain. And I needed somebody to tell me that I was going to be okay and that they've seen this before.

DR. MARSHAL PERIS: For Robert, surgery was the right option right away.
?

?
ROBERT: Literally five days after him first seeing me, I had same day surgery.
?
[DR. MARSHAL PERIS SPEAKING ON SCREEN]
?
DR. MARSHAL PERIS: Minimally invasive, so it's done through a very small incision, about three centimeters. And through that incision I focus my microscope down on the spine. The surgery is a grabbing of the disc material out of the spinal canal and making sure the nerve is free and then we're done. It takes about an hour.
?

?
ROBERT: I literally, for the first time, started to stand.
?

?
I was stiff, obviously, but I stood up. In this case, for me personally, I was very pleased with the outcome and I was pleased of how I was handled as a patient.
